Zine Fonts

As part of my art journey I’ve begun to make zines. Zines are self published booklets, or magazines that focus on one small subject, often obscure. I’ve been obsessing over art zines because artists often publish their preliminary work and sketches within their zines or create zines with artwork all around one subject. I love to see peoples obsessions, how they work with them and around them and how they bring them to life. Whilst creating my first zine I spent a long time looking for particular fonts. I decided to write this blog post to help others in case they were also looking for free handwriting fonts.

Pin for later?

If you’d like to read the article but don’t have time right now, why not pin this image to your Pinterest boards, I made it specially to showcase this post and it would mean a lot to me for you to use this!

I’ve split these fonts into pairs to compare similar styles:

Hashtag and Dani are both child-like handwriting, which is informal and quick. They’re both very legible and casual.

skinny font off

For a slightly more elegant handwriting style, try these upright condensed fonts – Estirada and Skinny.

For something that looks a bit haphazard and rushed, try JP Hand or Note This. Note, JP Hand also has a JP Hand straight form.

Finally, for caps handwriting that is casual yet clear, try Trashhand or Travelling.
