I’m a huge fan of the Vlogbrothers John and Hank Green on youTube. They have a wonderful outlook on life, aren’t afraid to be excited about the things that they love, and have built a community of fans who call themselves nerdfighters. I am a proud nerdfighter, as you don’t have to do anything to be one – you just have to want to be one.
Hank Green started Crash Course, a channel which gives short fun videos on ‘proper’ subjects like history and chemistry. The courses include ones taught by the brothers themselves. As I’m a massive fan I bought related posters which started the nursery artwork off. You can get similar posters at DFTBA.com.
Next up are two gorgeous wooden birds by Brian Dawson. I bought these even before I became pregnant, knowing that I’d want them in the nursery as soon as we had a baby. You pull a string beneath the birds which makes them flap their wings smoothly and majestically.
I also have my lego minifigs collection, various second-hand, hand-me-down, handmade, and gifted items. We spent *not that much* on all of our baby’s ‘stuff’. It’s far too easy to spend thousands and thousands getting everything brand new. I LOVED taking the time while pregnant to source free or good quality second-hand items and feel like we have a nicer environment for Rose because of it.
